<p>a seminar is a chilled out 1 or 2 unit (usually) class where you have a speaker(s) give talks about a certain topic. They're not like typical classes as in there are usually no discussion sections and not many homework assignments.</p>
<p>a decal is pretty much a seminar run by Berkeley undergrads. Topics can include "Male Sexuality," "Recycling in California," "The Simpsons," and many other academic/bizarre topics. All decal classes have to be sponsored by a faculty member. Decals are usually 1 unit, very chill, and always pass/fail. </p>
<p>People usually take it for social reasons (e.g. Male Sexuality) and/or for the 1 unit so they could fulfill the 13 unit minimum required for non-graduating-senior L&S students.</p>
