So basically if one was to look at my chance thread they would see my math score is pretty good, but in the writing and CR sections I would do very horrible.

I really do need some advice like, how would one go about in improving their writing skills that were developed in elementary school? Also How could one improve their vocabulary for the SAT? As well as understanding the passages better for the CR?

Is the only way to practice taking the test so many times that it eventually sticks in to my head? or are there some other ways to help improve my score?

My scores for reference:
Oct '07 700M/540W/540CR
Mar '08 680M/580W/580CR

I really do want to hit a composite of at least 2100, which is not impossible but difficult I know. I am willing to work my ass off with the proper advice.

The big thing for CR and Writing I'd say is just to increase your daily reading. Read the newspaper, magazines, books - anything that interests you, and has more advanced vocabulary. Look up any words that you don't understand (either right when you find them, or even jot them down on a piece of paper and look it up afterwards) Make sure you really understand the passages you are reading (rather than just looking at the words, if that makes sense)

This way, you say the vocab words in used in context, so they should be easier to remember (and hopefully it will be more interesting than memorizing lists and lists of words!) Also, you probably will pick up some grammatical or stylistic writing techniques from looking at other authors' works.

So when im looking out for a good book, I should skim to see that it is using words that are unfamiliar and have decent structure grammar wise. I should also assume that I should implement the words into my daily conversations.

Any recommended authors.

thanks to all of you
