Advice from the Admissions Officer who admitted me - for hs students

I don’t think so. That sounds like a good place to write about it to me.

And another bump for the late crowd…

Frog, thanks for bumping this thread; it’s very helpful, especially as I’m panicking over my Dec 1 deadline. I, too, would be forever in your debt if you would send me your essays

Also, I’m writing my intellectual vitality essay about my experience reading a book this summer. Does that sound too, idk, boring or cheesy?

it all depends on if you make it boring/cheesy… its never the topic itself

thanks frog for bumping your post and giving great insight into the admission process.
I also have Dec.01 as my deadline (so I feel you verdricity!).
I’ve already demonstrated passion in my essays, but now as I realize, only to some degree. I’m still in the process of getting my essays together, but could you also read and comment on my essays? Just a heads up… I’ll most likely pm you this sat. Thanks!

Ditto about wondering if I could read your essays, and about if you could read mine…

Of course I understand if you’re busy! Just freaking out a little here!

Ahh another Dec.1er here :frowning: fortunately I just have to write my commonapp and the why Stanford since my MIT stuff fits nicely into the two.
Just a question: what is Stanford looking for exactly in the “What is the most important problem facing society?”
Also frog would you be willing to read my commonapp essay? It would be much appreciated if you could.

I have one more question… I hear that on the commonapp if you declare an academic interest that’s not popular, you have a higher chance of being accepted.
I 've been showing lots of passion in a certain subject that is popular at Stanford.
Would it look hypocritical and show lack of genuine passion to declare my interest as something else (that’s unpopular at the school)?

^I wouldn’t overthink it. At Stanford you’re not pigeonholed into a major. They realize that lots of people switch one or more times. So they probably don’t put too much stock into your declared interest. So just put down what you’re most interested in.

I know this is way late for the SCEA or even RD Art Supplement crowd…

but …

BUMPITY BUMP BUMP

good info, I wish I saw this thread in time for REA

I looked for this and liked it. So I’m bumping it for last min. RD stuff. Good luck guys!
