Advice from those who've made it...

Hello all,

Well, I guess this goes mainly to International students who've already completed their undergrad. If you're still in the US, what are you doing? I know a few internationals who have gone onto to grad school for free... But, generally speaking, how feasible is this? If you are in grad school, how are you paying for it?? And to those who are working, how or what strategies did you utilise to maximise your chances of getting an H1B visa? I'll be going to the US this fall and I have no loans so going to the US is not entirely about securing a 'financial future', I would return if all else failed but working in the US for a few years would be cool. Ofcourse there's always Canada or Australia but still.. My school doesn't have a business school so I'm thinking of double majoring in Math and Econ for undergrad since I'm interested in going into finance or consultancy. Ofcourse it's too early to start thinking about after Undergrad but I like to have a general plan I guess. TIA

Talib, you should know that many graduate school programs (PhDs) are funded, meaning students don’t pay tuition and receive monthly stipends. That does not apply to most Master’s programs, law school or medical school. (PS I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s not crazy about your nick. For delicacy’s sake… you might want to change it. No biggie if you don’t - freedom of speech and all that - but just know it might turn off some readers on American sites.)
