ok guys, u really need to help-
Applied to Harvard as a transfer student- Freshman, 3.92 lasts emester- took three challenging 300 level courses this semester since my courses last semester where all 100levels- BUT, I got two A minuses and so my G.P.A's drpped to a 3.88- Is it a good idea to send my transcript to Harvard? Will it be beneficial or detrimental? + is it a bad thing to send in an explanation especially since all three courses are the most difficult in the econ/political science departments at my school?

Guys please HHHHHHHEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLP! I need to decide before tomorrow!

someone please post a repppllllllllllllly!
Need to decide befor tomorrow!

it will be beneficial.
But you might seem lil' desperate.
and harvard likes that?

I actually don't think Harvard really likes perfect people, and in any case, two A-s isn't going to hurt you, especially since they are in hard classes. I think an explanation would seem over the top.

Thanks so much! So shud basically just send away, not detrimental? + is it too late since its sort of almost may 15?

send it. it seems it'll give you peace of mind.

lol! thanks tubescreamerx! Yea, I'm kinda desperate here-

Goodluck everyone!

jeez not to be rude, but are you incapable of making decisions for yourself?

ha! I almost feel stupid! Nah, I'm not incapable, i just always wan make sure I'm not being narrow minded when I analyze things- For instance in this case I was like "O my gosh I got two A minuses! That's such a big deal!" and apparently it's not a huge deal- I dunno, maybe it's just because of the way my personality is- I've always thot that was a good thing tho- I mean, finding out peoples' opinions just to make sure-

sorry for taking over the thread...but can anyone tell me how much weightage the SAT will carry when someone is transferring after 2 years....
Also if it does carry weight is it a good idea to retake it once you are in college...does it still give the same imact or is it useless to retake in college since it is expected that you will be much better prepared once you attend college....(keep the advice for an international in a US univ.)

I don't think it really matters actually unless you got below a 1400- Besides you've done two years in college already- What do the SATs matter- It might matter for me, since I'm applying as a Freshman and I got a 1410 but frankly, I don't think it matters- Just keep the G.P.A up, get involved in a lot of ECs and get great recs and I think you'r good to go-

bumptitybump: what school do you go to now?

yeah, the whole point of the SAT is that it "supposedly" predicts how well you do in college... & with 2 years under your belt, then... they're not that much use. but atleast have a 1300....

I go to Illinois Wesleyan plus I'm Intel- u?

yeah well i have a 1340 comparing to the old SAT...but then do u guys think if i take the SAT in college...like october or november of this fall...would the (expected) increased score be treated equally by the college...or will they still look on the score of the SAT which i took in High school to gauge my performance....(coz i mean judgin internationals via SAT is stupid...i got a low score just coz of writing and CR...Math i got 720)...any comments...(oh and i will have great SAT II's in my app (Math L2,phy,chem all over 750)...so will the SAT's really have any real impact in my particular case...btw i am a CS major

hmm...I know adcoms in harvard typically only see ur highest test scores, so yea, u shud prolly take it again- I think u shud give it a shot- BUT,as I said, if ur G.P>A is a 3.9ish,4.0, u have exceptional recs and outstanding ECs, don't stress- Take it again tho if it'll make u feel better-

they didn't ask for your grades and they don't factor midterm grades in their decision

"if in doubt, just don't" should be your main rule when it comes to college admissions

the applications are already in the hands of the voting committee

you should never take less than 4 courses per semester regardless of the numbers - it looks a bit ineffectual

oh no, I took fouractually- Psych 100 was my fourth but its really ez and the adcoms know so I figured an A in it isn't a big deal- The thing's thatI figure seem I'm a freshman, it'll prolly help for them to see my performance in higher level classs- Plus I was waitlisted when I applied aa a freshman so they'll need a strong reason to admit me now, and doing well in college will be a considerable part of the justification- or am I just rationalising?
