Advice: Muhlenberg/Drexel (8 yr) vs. Kean/Drexel (8 yr) vs. Rosemont/Drexel (7 yr)?

Help! I'm so conflicted among these three options. Cost is not much of an issue, and most kids in each program like it there. I just don't know what to do, even though I'll be ending up at the same place.

Muhlenberg Pro/Con:
- Great undergraduate school
- Vibrant, really active community in the arts/theatre
- Lots of activities on campus
- Relaxed because it's an 8 year, but still difficult
- Not all kids matriculate to Drexel because kids choose different career paths, which is generally considered "okay" at that school
- BS/MD kids are wholly integrated with everyone else
- Expensive

Kean:
- Not in such a great area
- New, amazing STEM building
- New BS/MD program--only 3 years old
- BS/MD kids treated a little specially because the program is so new and no one has yet matriculated to Drexel
- Not much to do on campus
- Education may not be so great?

Rosemont:
- Pretty area
- Only 6/12 people have matriculated to Drexel so far while the others went to DO/dental schools, kids cited Rosemont not guiding students enough regarding the MCAT (which Rosemont is trying to change apparently)
- Education seems moderate
- Have already made friends there
- Moderate number of things to do on campus
- Cheapest option
- 7 year program

Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated. I'm still so conflicted and need to make a decision ASAP.

I also had to make decisions between 3 Drexel programs so heres my 2 cents:

I think Muhlenberg is definitely the best bang for the buck. It provides a quality education, fantastic facilities, and the right amount of challenge to keep motivated.
Kean is so new and developing…I found that a plus point! I think you will be treated wonderfully as a bs/md student there and they will strive to give you the best education possible, just because they WANT to see the program as a success.
Rosemont seems to be the best of both worlds to me (it was my second choice, if had not chosen Robert Morris). 7 year program kind of trumps everything else because it not only provides the challenge like Muhlenberg but also saves money like at Kean. As far as the matriculation rate, I feel that those were personal choices of the students from your wording. Unlike Kean, it is an older program so maybe it has the structure and guidance you will to succeed! Plus, great location.

Good luck in your decision!

Thanks for the input! I probably wasn’t clear about the 50% of BS/MD students at Rosemont who didn’t matriculate into Drexel–they did not meet the minimum MCAT requirement.

Such a difficult decision! I think I might be leaning towards Rosemont, but I’m still not sure…

I would do a bit more homework concerning Muhlenberg. They have an excellent reputation for getting a large percentage of students into all professional programs, so if down the road the Drexel option isn’t your best, you may have more opportunities for other medical schools. Muhlenberg has a great mix of students that really mesh well. It isn’t an us versus them situation. They treat their students very well, have amazing opportunities for research and getting to know your professors in small classes and labs. Nice campus, but even nicer people. Visit and interview and then just sit and talk with the people, you will get a clearer sense I am sure. Best of luck with your decision.

Muhlenberg College seems offering the best education among those three. If money isn’t an issue, Muhlenberg would be the best choice.

Well in that case, Muhlenberg is the better choice. If Rosemonts rates are that low for not achieving the scores, then you need to give some serious thought to it!

It’s been a tough choice mainly because I really liked the feel of Rosemont. The atmosphere at Muhlenberg seemed too “busy” for me, and although I loved Kean’s science building, I wanted more to my college experience.

Monmouth has also accepted me into their 8-year program with Drexel. I know for a fact that the program is reputed, in good standing, and very competitive to get into. But I liked Rosemont’s feel more…what should I do?

Go with wherever you want to be for the next 4 years. I vote for Rosemont since you seem to like the “feeling” of it so much more than all the others. I chose Robert Morris over the others with Drexel for the same reason, so I completely understand. Just be sure that you take the appropriate MCAT prep courses, and I’m sure you’ll be fine there.

What did you decide?
I’ve been wondering if 8 year programs have different requirements from 7 year programs.
If they do, that should be taken into account, too.

They all have the same requirements since it’s with the same med school, but I think I have decided on Rosemont.

Not sure, if this is the right forum for this question, but can you post your SAT and other qualifications which helped you get accepted into these three programs
