Advice needed for transferring in a year please.

Basically I'm trying to get out of CC asap. I just graduated from high school this last May and I'm going into CCC this Fall. I'm going into CC with 15 credits already (APs & 2 college classes) and have signed up for 18 credits for fall. So my question: Is it really possible to transfer for Fall 2012 whether a UC or Out of State (applying to both these) and do I have a good chance at doing this the direction I'm headed? Help would be nice ;) cause the counselors at my CC SUCK!

You need to have another meeting with the transfer counselors at your CCC. Find out what you need to do in order to be able to transfer into the UC or CalState system. There are very specific requirements to meet, so you need to be certain that you have them in your program.

As for transferring out-of-state, take a look at the requirements of the places you will be applying to, and see whether or not you can fit those into the program you need to have for the California institutions. Chances are that you can.

can somebody explain the TAG program to me? I’m interested in going to a CCC and transferring into UCB after 1-2 years.

I know UCSB has a community college that connects with UCSB and they live together etc. could i go to that CC while enrolled in the TAG program and be set to transfer to UCB?

does UCB have a similar CC compared to UCSB?

There is no TAG with UCB or UCLA unfortunately!

Good luck

Well I’ve been following the IGETC program for my classes so far so I think I’m good with that, but what exactly is the TAG program? Is it needed or just advised because it’s easier to transfer into UCs?

If you transfer in next year for your Sophomore year(2012-13), then they will look at your high school transcript/record too.
TAG is not needed, it is Transfer Admission Guarantee, so as long as you follow the path by taking the TAG courses, you will get into any UC besides UCB and UCLA given that you get a C or better for all.
Good luck!

You can go to Berkeley City College, its literally 2 blocks away from UCB(no dorms)
at BCC, you can take some classes at UCB too

So talked to my CC 's transfer dude and turns out you need 60 credits by the end of spring if I want to do a UC so it’s impossible. Looks like I’m only applying for out of state universities :D
