Advice needed. I got rejected from SFSU

I just received a letter, saying that I have been denied from attending S.F. State. I really don't know what to do at the moment. Heck, I don't even know if this is the right forum page to be posting this on.

I need advice on how to proceed. I was denied because I received D's during high school and I was thinking I could take summer classes to make myself eligible but I'm afraid it's already too late in the summer to be able to get accepted into the upcoming fall semester. I was also thinking of applying to a community college but again I'm afraid it's too late in the summer to get into the fall semester.

I apologize if I am on the wrong forum page but I'm just really worried at the moment. I would appreciate any advice given.

I’m not from California, but I can’t imagine it’s too late to go to community college. Most places, community colleges are open-enrollment, and as long as you have a high school diploma, they’ll enroll you.

I’m sorry I don’t have any advice for you about getting into a four-year at this date.

As an example, applications are open for graduating high school seniors to De Anza,an example of a community college in the San Francisco Bay Area. Do a search on De Anza and navigate to the online application page.

Similarily applications are open at Foothill College, another community college in the San Francisco Bay Area. The rules for Foothill are that you must complete your application for admissions 3 days before registration. At Foothill registration starts on July 25.

Be clear on what your plans are before starting at a California Community College. Once you open a file at a CC you MUST complete 60 transferable units in order to transfer to a CSU or UC. You can’t decide to go for a semester or year and then transfer to one of the state 4 year schools.

I’m know if taking a summer CC class now, as a HS graduate, would default you into the 60 unit requirement for transfer. There might be an option for ‘make-up’ work.
