Advice needed! Is Questbridge a good idea in light of my situation?

Like many others here I have big doubts that Questbridge is right for me. Though, this may just be because I'm lost in the complexity of it's application process =\ These are my concerns:

1) Applying to College Match cuts editing time on your essays by a good 3 months. If I apply to Questbridge and I'm not selected as I finalist, could I request to edit my application before they forward it to colleges for regular decision? I read somewhere that you can call the office to retract your application, but does that mean that I wouldn't be able to apply for that school through the Common App?

2) I think that my grades/EC's from senior year have the potential to be a swaying factor in my application. I'm taking all IB classes save for one duel enrollment class and I'm also planning on starting a Forensics club at my school. If I apply to College Match they won't see my progress in either of these fields. Going along with the previous question, would I be able to add/edit my application before it gets forwarded to colleges though Questbridge's regular decision?

BASICALLY, I'm just trying to weigh my chance of acceptance applying through Questbridge or applying through the Common App. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey p0larbear, I was in the same boat as you before I talked to the QuestBridge team at questions@questbridge.org

I’m not sure if they will allow you to edit your QuestBridge application. However, I know you can submit additional test scores. Most of the partner colleges allow you to submit different essays if you are chosen as a QuestBridge finalist.

Think about this and talk to the QuestBridge team if you haven’t already done so.

To my knowledge, you CANNOT edit your QB application if you choose to forward it for RD.

I’ve confirmed that you aren’t able to edit your essays before they are forwarded to the schools for regular decision. So for now, I plan on retracting my QB application and applying with the Common App instead. I think that the extra 3 months you get editing your essays has greater benefits than the extra information that QB offers admissions officers.

Thanks to you both! And good luck if you are applying for QB this year!

Thanks. Good luck to you too.
