Advice needed on effective annotation- rising AP Lang student

So for summer assignment, we have to read the book "Devil in the White City"
I was half way through the book and realized i honestly didn't understand a majority of it because i wasn't annotating. Although we did a little bit last year of annotation, our teacher never completely taught us this technique.

I was wondering if some CC members who HAVE taken AP Lang and know what to look for in the text, help me on what to look out for while annotating. Links to other websites or comments are all fine..I JUST NEED SOME HELLP! haha

thanks in advance

bumpppp…
any help at all guys???

gamma, seriously? I have to read that same book too, but for APUSH.

^EAA? Sweet. Solid sh#t, that stuff is. I think it applies a lot to APUSH to; you have to make arguments for junk in essays and such. It helps almost everything for that matter. Best “textbook” ever.
