My son’s experience was that his assigned “Freshman” advisor seemed to be pretty good for the “traditional” freshman class selection but wasn’t as well informed about upper level classes that are accessible to students with lots of incoming credit.
Once again, the folks here on CC are probably not typical of the general population in the college so it doesn’t seem surprising to me that this problem is more visible in this audience,
That being said, he was much happier with the adviser he got once he declared his major.
