Hey all, after researching for tertiary education lately, mit has become my dream school. However, my gpa is about 3.6 and my involvement in ecas are not very active. So, i wonder is there anything that i can do to improve my chances in getting into mit? I am planning to take a levels next year, so would getting good a levels' results help in this situation?
Btw, i am doing my secondary education in msia.

First things first - why is MIT your dream school? Do you realize that it will likely be far more work than you’re currently putting in to school? If you’re not taking advantage of your activities now, why do you think you would at MIT (or are you planning to be academic-only for four years)? I’m always a bit suspicious of people who act like they haven’t put much into life, and then discover MIT is their dream school.

I’d need to know more specifics about your situation to actually judge how bad off you are. Certainly, a 3.6 GPA isn’t terrible (just a little low for an MIT applicant, depending if you’re talking weighed/unweighed, etc). But yes, getting good grades in the future (and getting more involved in something beyond just getting good grades in classes) would help your application.

Hey there, for my gpa i think its unweighted since its 3.6/ 4.0 and by 3.6, i meant for the average of the past 5 years( this year is the fifth year). My results has always been between 3.55 -3.75. And for my ecas, i have not been very active when i was in form 1-3 but i’ve participated in competitions mostly in last year and this year. However all these are just participation and i dont really hold any position in clubs so i assumed my ecas involvement to be not very active. So is this really bad and is there any ways to improve the situation?
Thx in advanced.
