[List of physical therapy schools in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_physical_therapy_schools_in_the_United_States)

Looking at this list, I see two public VA schools in addition to VCU that grant physical therapy degrees: Old Dominion in Norfolk and Radford, which is not far from VTech.

If you’d like to go out of state, I suggest looking at University of Pittsburgh, just because it’s a great school in so many ways. It’s reasonably priced even for OOS students, with generous merit aid if you qualify. It’s a big school, so you won’t have a lot of smaller classes early on. Sports are huge at Pitt, and I imagine the cheerleading is very competitive.

Also OOS - the SUNY schools on the list (Buffalo and Stony Brook). Again, you’ll have bigger classes. But as state schools go, NY is reasonable for OOS students, and the SUNY system is actively encouraging OOS applicants.

VCU is different from some of the other Virginia schools with respect to merit scholarships. Just today, our son received a letter from VCU offering him the Presidential scholarship - full tuition, fees, room and board for 4 years if he maintains a 3.3 GPA while at VCU. They have several levels of merit scholarships and really seem to go after the better students. They held an honors luncheon last December and gave each student that took the time to attend a $2000 scholarship renewable for 4 years.

My daughter attends Elon, and from your description of yourself you would fit in quite well there.
