Hi. I will be a freshman entering college this fall. I intend to major in Biology and declare myself as a premed student. I have registered to take Intro to Bio, Bio Lab, Intro to Chem, Calculus, and Psychology. This all add up to be 15 hours of credit. Is this too much for my first semester of first year? Should I drop Bio Lab and replace it with Economics? I have been told that taking a variety of classes is beneficial. However, I would love to read opinions of others. Thanks.

If the Bio requires the lab course, then the two are taken at the same time.
If you have a strong background starting college, much of this may be repetitive for you. In that case case, it won't be too much.
Also -- do you get you meet the pre-med advisor before your final schedule is set? Your advisor might have a better recommendation for you based on your background.

All of your premed sciences (the one year biology, two years chemisty and one year physics MUST have labs with them - take them together.)

And no, taking economics in place of a lab is a bad idea. (the lab probably is less credit hours than the economics course)

LWMD: I met with my advisor before registering for classes. She told me that my schedule was not a bad idea, but she had recommended other students to take Bio Lab during the second semester.

Pearl: Economics is 3 hours of credit while Bio Lab is only 2. I thought about sticking with Bio Lab.

Thanks.
