Advice needed!

I have one last school to wait for regarding their final decision. I have initially been waitlisted at this school. Of course I am not sure if I will be accepted or not. My dilemma is this: Since I am not sure I will be accepted, I have already signified my intention to attend another school that has accepted me already. As such, I already paid the non-refundable enrollment confirmation fee. But if ever I will be accepted from the waitlist, I would want to attend that school instead of the one I already signified attending to. Is this appropriate? I know I will not get a refund for what I initially paid for but do I need to write them a letter of explanation of some sort?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you in advance.....sami.

Yes, this is what everyone does. Chances of getting off most waitlists are small, very small if you need financial aid. So look forward to attending the college you are into and let it be a happy surprise if you get into the waitlist school.

…so this means that if ever I get accepted at my waitlisted school and I accept it, that I will simply inform the other school (that I already sent my enrollment fee to, including statement of finances form), that I will not continue with my enrollment with them?—sami

Yes…

Exactly right. They will be disappointed, but will keep your non-refundable deposit as a way to get over their sorrow.
