Yea, really weird, but supposedly I got an invite to join some frat, Phi Eta Sigma b/c I got above 3.5 GPA my first semester. I didn't even contact them or anything, they sent an invite via email.

Anyways, is this fraternity any good? I mean, if I'm gonna join one, it's gotta be one that I can have fun in and meet lot of new people and do fun things, etc..

Is there a lot of partying in this frat or is it one that's more serious and stuff? This question goes to any of the current students or alumni.

after first semester of freshman year, if you have a high GPA you get hit up to join honors fraternities for a certain fee. some of these are legit, some aren't.

you won't be having much fun in that frat... its probably more something to put on your resume.

I have friends that are in social fraternities or sororities while being in professional frat/sororities at the same time. I think this is a better combination. I don't know what your major is, but there are some good business/finance frats.

Also, rush is going on right now, so if any of you are interested in rushing during the spring and want my biased opinion on the houses you are looking at, feel free to PM me.

Spring pledge classes for the big frats are like 14 people while fall pledge classes are like 30, so thats a difference you can think about. I would suggest pledging this semester if you want to join a social frat, so that you aren't a soph in a pledge class of freshmen.

Yea, I'm not joining that frat cause that's just not what I'm lookin for if I was to join a frat. The stupid a-holes didn't even email me back, so says a lot about that frat and how crappy it probably is.

I can't join a frat now, I mean I'm thinkin more towards next year if any year just b/c I don't think I'm ready now plus I just don't know if it suits me well or not. I mean I want to, but at the same time, see some negatives to it, like my grades and sleep going to the crapper. I wanted to basically not really get into the whole frat scene my freshman year b/c I felt like gettin a handle on the courses and work was my first priority.

Plus, estimation wise, do sophomores join frats? Or is it mostly freshman. I know it's probably much greater % of freshman, but what are those percentages.

i cant give you percentages, but i had 4 sophomores and 1 junior in my pledge class of 29. it doesnt matter what year in school you are, and the sophs can fit in just fine with the freshmen if they want to, but if you wanna act like you are a soph and better than the freshmen, the soph thing will alienate you. but it shouldnt be a problem. its 5AM and i just got back from another great night with the fraternity, so no regrets here.

depends what you think good rep is... betas, ato's, and sigs call themselves the 3 kings but they are full of themselves and do coke, but they still have exchanges with hot sororities. Pikes, Phi Delts, Delts, Acacia, Sig Eps, are all good options. when you are rushing, dont forget to ask frats about their social calendar, because some have it pretty ****ty.

based on your previous post of saying you lived in PAR, I'm guessing you're an ATO. The coke thing is something I've heard a lot about betas. ATOs, I've heard, have a badass interior (especially compared to betas and sigs) and a good alumni network. It seems like the long walk back from clys would suck though.
