Hello everyone! I’m new to this site so I’m not totally sure what typically goes in these types of posts but I’ll give it a shot cause I’d love to hear any estimate of what my chances are.
Demographic: first-gen Latina female (not first in the family to attend college tho)
Intended major: In a dream world, I’d love to double major in Computer Science and Government/Political Science because I have a passion for both, but I realize they’re hard to combine. (This is why Brown’s open curriculum really spoke to me!)
Grades: 3.84 unweighted, 4.60 weighted
Rank: top 10% (my school doesn’t get more specific than that)
SAT: 780 English/reading, 770 math
Classes: I took all honors/AP classes for the majority of my high school
AP Scores:
AP American Government - 5
AP US History - 4
AP AB Calculus - 5
AP Microeconomics AND AP Macroeconomics - 5
AP English Language - 5
AP World History - 5
**in my upcoming senior year I’m also taking AP comp gov, AP Spanish Lang, AP stat, AP comp sci and AP Eng Lit
Extracurriculars:
Job/Paid Internship at a law firm
Minority Scholars - Treasurer
National Honors Society - Member
Stage Crew - Scenic Charge + Master Flyman
Science Olympiad - Member
TV Studio - Officer
Programs:
APEX - an advanced placement program offered at my school
Carnegie Mellon Pre-College - I was very lucky to get a scholarship to go there for the summer and take accelerated classes in Computer Science and History. I finished the program with A’s in both of the classes I took.
My main problem right now is deciding whether or not to apply ED. I really love brown, and it’s my top choice school, but I’m worried that I won’t be able to afford it and also my parents don’t want me to be locked into one school.
Is it worth it to apply ED to better my chances? Do you think it would make any difference?
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED! thank you
