I'm currently a sophomore in high school, and I really need some advice for when I start college apps in a few years.
I currently have a 4.3 weighted, 3.8 un weighted GPA, which I'm looking to improve. I want to go to film school, and SCA is my top choice. However, I don't have much experience in film making. I've got pages and pages of ideas, concepts, scripts, but I'm never able to go past that stage. I tend to think unrealistically considering my resources. All my projects are much too big for me to reasonably shoot it as of now. It's just me and my video phone. I don't have access to actors, and none of my friends want to help.
I've been working like this for a while. I have managed to complete a few films, but they never turn out how I envisioned. I know it's the story that makes a film, but it's a little hard for me to write a good one that can be shot. I can only rely on fixed camera shots for the cinematography, no zooms or tracking shots, also, my acting is really sub par.
This really worries me, as SCA is one of the top films schools. I've been watching accepted films, and they look so professional. The cinematography is so elaborate, the acting is great, etc. The students who made them have so much experience with film, entering them into film festivals, wining awards.
For now, I'm just trying to improve. I film everything I can as often as I can, and it's been so great. But, there's always that sort of underlying fear, you know? I just really worry about one day coming home to a table full of rejection letters, because I need training... badly.
I apologize for how long this is, and I totally get if most of you TLDRed this, but can someone give me advice on what to do?
