Advice on Being Wait-listed

Hello everyone! So I’ve been driving myself crazy; checking my phone for emails every minute, waiting for a confirmed answer regarding the status of my admission decision. I applied and auditioned for the LAMDA BA program the first week of March. I received an email March 15th stating that the North America auditions were complete and that I was put on the wait list.

In the email, it is also mentioned that they would follow up within the next few weeks with updates on a decision and there is no need for me to do anything at this stage (except I can’t help myself). This is my first time experiencing auditions for collegiate acting programs. So far it’s going pretty good. I auditioned for Yale and made it past the second round of call backs, but did not advance to the last and final round. I also got accepted into a few great Summer intensive programs. But I feel very confident in LAMDA, so I’d like to put majority of my focus and energy into that opposed to a summer program at the moment.

How does this process usually work? Is there anyone else out there with a similar experience? I also just submitted my audition for Oxford (which I feel very confident in). So should I wait until I receive an answer from Oxford and then reach out to LAMDA?

Thanks in advance for your help : )

I am not that familiar with England’s programs, is May 1st Decision Day there too?

Honestly I’m not sure. I was never told there would be an actual day when a decision would be made. Even though I was advised there is nothing for me to do at this point, do you think I should reach out to them and see if there is a possible decision day?

And thanks so much for your reply : )

I’m not familiar either, but if they said they would reach out in “a few weeks” and it looks like it’s been about 5 weeks, I think it is fine to check in with them at this point. . I also think it is fine to ask if there is a date by which you can expect to know if you are admitted or not. And it’s a good chance to reiterate your interest! Good luck.

Great advice!! I’ll definitely do that and see where it goes. Thanks so much!!!

My daughter’s friend moved off the waitlist for LAMDA in September once the semester had gotten underway but this was for grad school. She quickly got herself there and got settled and found a place to live.

So late!! But its amazing she moved off the wait list and was offered a place. That actually gives me great hope! Thanks for sharing : )
