I have friends who are as a couple, respectively, a lawyer and a PhD engineer. Their kids are all artists of one sort or another. Their son is having quite the career so far as — wait for it — an opera singer. BFA, MFA, Fellowship from Juilliard, summers touring Europe, etc. Sometimes you have to have faith (and a backup plan!)
