I really want to go there as a transfer student.
I already plan to start a pre-vet club at my CC, as a freshman.
I also plan to be in the honors program and an honors club.
I am giong to strive for a perfect 4.0 GPA, if possible.

What advice can you give me, that will help me get into Cal?
What can I do to increase my chances of getting in?

Also, is a 1710 SAT score and a 24 composite ACT worth mentioning?
Or, should I try and raise it?

your test scores won’t matter for a transfer. Just get as many A’s as you can. Also, if your college has an ‘honors’ program, that could be a small plus (to demonstrate academic rigor).

UC’s love essays about overcoming ‘adversity’.

The ACT and SAT scores are totally irrelevant now. Sorry bluebayou had to break the news to you.

The basic pieces of the puzzle to get into a UC:
-All pre-reqs done for your desired major
-IGETC

Things to make you more competitive:
-High GPA, as close to 4.0 as possible
-Honors program can help with CAL, and if you do the honors program, you might as well do TAP if your school offers it, and that will help secure UCLA as your back up plan.
-Volunteer work
-Leadership roles in student organizations

What major are you applying for? If it is a life sciences major, consider CNR instead of L&S. CNR is more on the macro-level (ecosystems, communities) while L&S emphasizes the micro (cellular, etc…). Molecular Enviro. Biology (MEB) may be a good option if you intend to pursue the life sciences.
