advice on classes for junior year please

well for next year, i'm planning to take:
english regular
ap us history
honors pre calc
ap chemistry
chinese 4
and for the last one i'm debating on either ap psychology or wind ensemble
i haven't taken a music class at school before, but i think my courses will look more well rounded to colleges if i take wind ensemble. but then again, i think more aps are important too
can someone help me out with this dilemna =D

take wind ensemble ONLY if you enjoy it. Don't do it just to look more well rounded. AP Psych will probably look better and its not that hard to study....so take AP Psychology.

Which classes reflect you, as a person, more?

I'd say - don't do either. You're taking wind ensemble to look more well-rounded and you're taking extra APs for a generic reason of "importance". In such a situation, I'd actually recommend you to leave an open period to relax.

Think - what do you want to learn, and what you prefer to learn now. Maybe get ahead in a subject you're interested in. Adcoms see right past people who just make impressions.

If you really want to look more well rounded to colleges take Honors or AP english instead of just Regular english.

sorry that i didn't mention this earlier, but i do enjoy music, since i played for my city's youth symphony for years. but upon their closing this year, i have no music group for next year, so i was considering wind ensemble. But i don't have to take a music ensemble at school, so i was thinking colleges might like it if i took it at school =/ hope that clears things up
and i plan to do something in medicine when i grow up, so ap psych interests me too.
as for ap english, i really want to take it, but i'm really really crap at writing, and our ap english teacher is really really hard.

I'd take the wind if you're more musically inclined. Can you take one this year and one next year?

Take the course that will make you happier. Don't worry about what the colleges will think. This choice is a minor detail in your overall HS career from a college perspective. I would just note on your the ec part of the college app that you continued music independently if you are not in a formal group.

From what you say, I'd think that you'd be happier with Wind Ensemble.

You have a very solid course load for jr. year with wind ensemble. Now double check with your GC! Make sure the choice is the correct one for you even though I stand by my previous comment!

I do understand your regular English choice. I have seen many kids go to top schools with regular English junior year.

I would try to take AP english...

yea i'm thinking about ap english, so how does this look for next year?
apush
ap english
ap chem
pre calc honors
wind ensemble
chinese 4
someone want to warn me if my class schedule is too crazy please

Just a crazy question: Do you happen to go to Irvington High School in Fremont, CA? This looks identical to a lot of my higher-achieving friends' schedules. I personally didn't choose APUSH because the teacher was always busy with her own problems, but this schedule can be handled if procrastination isn't a weakness.

Plus, if you DO go to IHS, AP Psych is impossible to get into since that's what all seniors take :D Wind Ensemble sounds like a great fit for you though, as a person.

don't procrastinate.

you will get straight as if you just dont procrastinate.

EEK my close friend's boyfriend goes to irvington!
