Advice on College Chances

Should I even bother applying to some of these schools? They all have fairly reasonable transfer rates, 20%+. Furthermore, I love all the schools on my list, but I feel that my chances may be slim due to the fact I come from a community college. Regardless, I will be applying to all of them, I would just appreciate feedback on my chances. Note: I applied to three UCs in November, one of which is a safety. I have not applied to any of these schools in the past.

Applying for Junior Transfer

Schools - Majors
Georgetown - Business
Northwestern University - Economics
Swarthmore College - Economics
University of Chicago - Economics
University of Southern California - Business

My Stats
High school GPA: 3.6 UW. Independent School which did not weight grades. High school program was also "accelerated." In other words, year-long classes were completed in a semester. By taking classes at the community college in conjunction with the accelerated program, I graduated in 2 years.

SAT: 1450/2120 (CR 700, M 750, WR 670) - Super scored from three sittings.
SAT II: Math II - 740 Lit - 670. One sitting.

CA Resident
Community College

College GPA: 3.83 - College does not offer an Honors Program.
Major/Pre-requisite GPA: 4.0 - All Econ/Business/Math (up to multivariable calculus)
Essays: The ones I have written so far are good. I expect the rest to be great as well. I have a compelling reason for transfer.
ECs: CNBC online stock challenge (I was in top 5% last round), president of school honor society, sports (non-varsity, moslty lax pickup games and the gym).
Work Experience: Work in accounting department at a real estate investment company. Math/Econ tutor at CC.
Awards: Dean's List

I had a few semesters where I was not a full-time student due to dual enrollment at high school. However, upon graduating, I maintained a 4.0 as a full-time student. I have one withdrawal from a summer course as well.

How are my chances looking? Thanks

should have a very good shot at all schools, save for perhaps u chicago which is a whole different game for econ although its worth applying. i would not however put your performance on an online stock game on your application.

For being at a CC, your GPA is a bit low for Swarthmore, as is at least your WR section of the SAT (trust me...I know the stats of almost all the transfers last year). Our Econ program is huge and we don't need to "fill" spots there, for sure. I mean, you should apply, but don't get your hopes up. Really try to make yourself look like an interesting candidate...that's what will matter.

Definitely have a shot.

3.83 GPA is not a low GPA for CC, only silly elitist think that...

A 3.83 means one to two Bs. That's not bad at all. CCs aren't as easy as you think. At my school, only 600 people got President's List (4.0) out of 25,000.

swattransfer is, i believe, being biased here. sat scores are of minimal importance for junior xfers. a 670 on your writing section, which some schools dont even look at, will not put you at a disadvantage. its absolutely absurd to promulgate the notion that a 3.83 will be "low" for swathmore and will preclude the OP from being competitive. i do agree however that you should work on finding some sort of hook

Just a few questions.

For U Chicago, I apply directly to the college for Econ. Because I am applying directly to the college, why would applying for the Econ Program affect my chances as opposed to, for example, applying to the African and African-American Studies Program? At Georgetown, for the business program, I must apply to the McDonough School of Business, not college itself. I hope you can all see what I'm trying to get at. Also, the same question applies to Swarthmore. It's a LAC, my major shouldn't affect my admission decision correct?

I greatly appreciate everyone's input so far, if anyone has something more to add I'll gladly read it. Furthermore, I look forward to your responses to the questions above. Thanks.

May I ask what is your compelling reason for transfer is?
