I know that some colleges require extra-detailed transcripts for homeschooled students. From what I've seen, these colleges ask for everything from grading schemata to instructor credentials.

Do you have any advice on creating such a document? On writing course descriptions? Organization?

Should I include related extra-curriculars and test scores? (e.g. I could list TopCoder, USACO, and Project Euler next to a computer science class, or I could put my SAT II Biology E score next to AP Biology.)

Do I need to submit this additional transcript through my umbrella program? They provide a transcript, but the software they use does not give space for course descriptions, etc.

You need to check with the individual school, each has different requirements. Starting in middle school I start keeping records in a resume like format that lists EC’s, awards, volunteer experiences and hours, work experience, major performances, classes (teachers, texts, credit hours, grades) and test scores. I can then tailor this to what is needed. Admissions offices do not want to wade through extra paperwork, give them only what they ask for. So far my two oldest have opted to move to public school for high school. For their applications to high school (it’s an out of district high school so there was an application processes) I was strongly advised to make the transcripts as similar to public school transcripts as possible.

I’m in the process of creating a LaTeX document containing all course descriptions, but I’m also considering uploading an interactive, combined course description/unofficial transcript to my personal website.

Here is the template for course descriptions:
Here is an example course description:
Here is a drawing of the LaTeX document:

I know the additional online format is not necessary and rather nontraditional, but it would combine the information neatly and show off my design and development skills. The online format would be divided into four sections (one for each grade) and consist of several “blocks.” Each block is a class name with description, similar to the second image I posted above. Clicking makes the block flip over, revealing the course grade, relevant test scores (e.g. AP, SAT II, final exam), and additional sources.

Here is a drawing of the online design, not including separate pages for each grade:

If I do create the online combined course descriptions and transcript, I am planning to include a link at the beginning or end of the LaTeXed PDF document.

EDIT: Just removed links so I don’t get banned. PM me if you want to see them.

Sorry–I just defeated the purpose of my own post by removing four links at the last second. Anyway, do you think it would be too weird to include a link to an online course description/unofficial transcript with test scores and additional sources? I could include all of the information in one big LaTeX document, but that would easily be 25+ pages.
