Advice on doubling up on algebra 1 and geometry

I am currently a freshman in high school who is incredibly bored in math class and wants to double up on geometry. I have often heard that you do want to finish algebra 1 before geometry but usually people’s opinion seems to widely vary on that. Got my school to approve an online geometry class which I could take this 2nd semester and over this summer.

Only challenging class I am taking this year is honors Engllsh, but next year I wanted to also take Honors bio so It made more sense to take geometry before next year online. I still have no idea how algebra 1 and 2 relate to geometry. Currently have an A in my algebra 1 class. I’ll take all the advice I can get, thanks.

Honestly, if you’re ready to study and work hard in geometry, I’d go for it. The only thing I should warn you about is that many (not all, of course) students that excel in algebra have trouble in geometry and vice versa. However, if you are really gifted in math you should have no trouble at all.

At my school, they make a big ruckus about taking Alg 1 before Geometry. Honestly, the most Alg you use in Geometry is solving equations, and finding X. That’s about it, and you learn that in Pre-Alg.

Geometry is abstract. Kinda like Stats. It’s either you get it or you don’t (liking it right away or hating it right away). It is not impossible, it is a different type of thinking especially those multistep (5+ steps) word problems (or Proofs oh lawd) that were written by Satan himself.

You’ll be fine because if you get Alg 1, Geometry will come to you easier than others who struggle.
