Advice on EC

Hi, I’m planning to apply to BS next year in 10th grade.
I’m low income so I don’t have a lot of fancy ecs most of what I would put is self-taught.
One ec in particular I wanted to put is the fact that I learned to use Adobe After Effects last year. Does anyone know how common it is for teens (14) to know that? Thanks!

Rather than say you learned something, think of a way to show it. Most applications allow some multi-media submissions.

I didn’t know they did thank you!

High schools often offer far more EC opportunities than grade schools. Assuming you’ll be in 9th next year, take advantage of that as much as possible. Also remember that quality is better than quantity. Find two or three things you’re really interested in and get involved. A great way to show initiative is to start something, so you may want to consider doing that as well.

Hi I’ll actually be in 10th grade next year, that’s why I’m worried about my ecs. My school literally doesn’t have any.

What are some of your interests? If you want, you can always start a club and see if other students from your school are interested in joining. Unrelated, but are you planning on applying as a repeat 10th grader? 11th grade admissions is very difficult and spots are often reserved for athletes.

Regarding ECs I also found these lists online, although I’m note sure how helpful they’ll be:
