Advice on grad school in computational sciences

<p>I was wondering if anybody could give me any advice on selecting a grad school from the following list...</p>

<p>PURDUE UNIVERSITY
UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA
EMORY UNIVERSITY
GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY
GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
RICE UNIVERSITY
STANFORD UNIVERSITY
UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS</p>

<p>The field is computational engineering, science, & mathematics, and scientific computation (all listed universities have something to that effect). All the programs look good, now I'm just looking for the insider scoop on some of these. Preferably, as far as academics / faculty / funding go, not social life / location.</p>

<p>Have you considered adding Carnegie Mellon to your list ?</p>

<p>Yes, although the variety of programs their is only somewhat interesting, and I don't remember seeing any professors doing research that sparked my interest, initially. Same with MIT. I know they're good schools, but I'm mainly interested in these programs, at the moment, for the purposes of the current discussion.</p>
