I'm currently attending De Anza CC (just about to finish up my 1st year here).

I have a 3.83 GPA and am the Treasurer of a club. I'm a business/econ major.

For my major, based on my GPA (assuming I maintain my GPA by the time I apply), and my extra curricular, what schools do you recommend and think I have a shot at?

Any other advice you have on what I could do to up my chances?

UCLA has a average admit GPA for 3.96 for Business Econ so… but you should be a shoe in for every other UC with the exception for Cal, but even for Cal you will be a competitive candidate

Try to enroll in UCLA TAP if you still have time. Peterr86 is right, biz econ is competitive as hell so if your goal is UCLA, TAP might give you a better chance.

De Anza doesn’t have TAP but you can always apply for Foothill or West Valley’s TAP. I’d recommend Foothill’s since it’ll still be on quarter system.

I am enrolled at Foothill already, but mainly a De Anza student. Considering I am just finishing my first year of community college, is it too late to apply for the TAP?

I’m not sure when you start to apply for Honors for the Fall qtr but if you email them they’ll give you a deadline of when to fill out the application and submit it. You’ll then get priority registration in order to register for your honors classes.

Just take at least 12 units of honors classes in Fall 2011 and you’ll qualify for TAP so that you can apply with it for Fall 2012.

I’d recommend taking the easier classes for honors. They honestly don’t care what you take (I took art, photography, etc. and I still got in – and my GPA was not as amazing as yours :D).
