Advice on my high school schedule

I have been sick with the swine flu and really can't do anything, but go online. So I thought I could use some of advice with my schedule, lol. I am currently a sophomore. I will put a note after each year. Thanks for helping me and I am planning on going to college for print journalism/or drama. I would like to go to graduate school for screenwriting. The type of schools I would like to go would be: NYU, USC, Northwestern, Sarah Lawrence, Muhlenburg, Kenyon, Swarthmore, etc...

Freshman Year:
Honors Bio
AP Human Geo (3)
Accel Int Alg I
Gym/Health
Intro to Theater
Freshman Honors Language Arts
** This was the most rigorous course load I could take. I did drop down to CP Math this year. I had got a 72 in Honors Math and I was in it again this year for a couple weeks, but dropped down. I had about a 3.1-3.2 GPA, so not a good year but doing better sophomore year**

Sophomore Year (current year):
Honors Chem
AP World History
Soph Honors LA
French I
Advanced Drama
Int Geometry
** This is the most rigorous class I could have taken, except for math of course. It has been good thus far, a little trouble in French. It's my first time taking a language, I didn't have room to take French freshman year. I couldn't have taken another AP and this is a standard schedule for my school, except for the electives.**

Junior Year:
AP Physics B or Honors Physics
Junior Honors LA
Journalism (Newspaper)
Advanced Production/Theater
AP US History
Int Pre Cal
French II (online)
** I am not sure about AP Physics. It will depend on this year prob, but I usually get B's in Honors Science classes. Do you think it would be better then to take Honors? I could not take an AP English class my junior year, only my senior year. I could have tried and took AP Euro History instead of Journalism, but I would like to go into journalism as a career. I don't know how much time I'll have time for French, but I want to do acting and journalism**

Senior Year:
AP Govern/AP Micro (one each semester)
AP Lang or Lit
AP Psychology or maybe AP Euro History
Journalism (Newspaper)
Advanced Production/Theater
CP Calculus
French III (online)
** This will be my hardest year of high school. Is this weird? I thought junior year is suppose be your hardest, right? But I can not do this type of course load then. 4 years of science is required, so I will be taking something like Earth Systems at a community college during the summer. Also, what is the difference between AP Lang or Lit? Which is better for what I want to do?**

Is this a good schedule for the type of schools I want to go to and for my career? If you couldn't tell, I'm more of a Social Studies/Language Arts person. I like science when it doesn't have math in it! I'm just worried about the French online, I'm on the swim team so that's why and I would like to be in plays outside of school. I already have a good course load. Thanks so much!

bump???

Apparently your grades haven’t been stellar, but your job is to find the best schedule (meaning the most rigorous and most inline with your interests) you can handle. No one should tell you not to apply to certain schools, but just make sure you pick your reaches, matches, and safeties responsibly. Definitely don’t give up theatre to take a slightly harder courseload if you’re going to possibly major in drama.

If this is the hardest and most interesting courseload you pick, you’re making the right choice. As long as your counselor checks “most rigorous,” it really comes down to rank, SAT, and EC’s.

you forgot algebra 2 between your geometry and precal

My grades have been decent but not stellar. I don’t think an 87% average is bad and I did good in most of my classes. I will get it up though and I’m doing much better this year. I have my whole sophomore and junior year to get my GPA up, I’m not too worried. Honors Math did hurt my GPA, but I’m doing a lot better in the college prep class.

We don’t take Algerba 2. I’m in the Integrated Math courses. I take half Algerba and half Geometry my freshman and sophomore year.

I only could take one more AP class, if I dropped journalism/acting one year. I don’t think it’s worth it to drop acting for AP Euro History. Thanks so much!

bump???

Ok. So I want to know if this is a good or bad idea. I want to take Honors US History next semester. And then I could take the following semester during the summer. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of time, it would be online and with the high school. I also was going to take Environ Science at a community college next semester or I could take it during the summer also. You need 4 years of science to graduate and this would take let me take AP Psychology my senior year. I could take Environ Science online too, but then it would be two semesters. I think at a community college, one semester = a whole year. I’m also not sure you can take more then two classes online with my county.

I would take Honors US History instead of AP US History though. BUT I would take AP Euro History instead of AP US History. I know I would get an A in the Honors class, Social Studies is my best subject. I usually get a low A with the 10 points for AP. I’m in AP World History now. This would be my schedule for the rest of high school:

Sophomore (current year):
Integrated Geometry
Honors Language Arts
Advanced Drama
French I
AP World History
Honors Chemistry

** I would be taking Honors US History next semester and in the summer. I would take Environ Science at a community college next semester or the summer too. I have to ask my counselor about all of this lol.**

Junior Year:
AP Euro History
Journalism (newspaper)
Advanced Production
Honors Language Arts
Int Pre Cal
Honors Physics or AP Physics (most likely Honors)
French II online*

Senior:
AP Micro & AP Government (1 per semester)
AP Lang or AP Lit
CP Calculus
Journalism (newspaper)
Advanced Production
AP Psychology
French III online or at community college

I will also like to do dual enrolment junior and senior year, so it may change everything it up. What do you think about doing Honors US History? Is Honors Physics that bad compared to AP? I have a feeling I’d do much better in Honors? I’m not really a math and science person, btw. I’m taking acting and journalism, because that’s the career I want to do. I should have 6 AP classes and 7 Honors classes and 3 Advanced classes. I’m sorry for the wording, lol!

Also, would AP Lang or AP Lit look better? I think I would do better at AP Lit, but AP Lang looks better for journalism and would help me more.
