Hi everyone, I am a student at the University of Toronto and had planned to enroll in their undergraduate architectural studies program but failed. I have applied again but the chances of me getting in seem meager, so I am going to change my major. I am currently enrolled as a history major, and I am thinking of either doing another major in environmental geography or one minor in environmental geography and one minor in urban studies. Which combination do you think is stronger for an application into graduate school in architecture, landscape architecture, or urban design? Thank you so much!

Honestly I don’t think it will make much difference. Look at the prerequisites at schools you may want to attend for things such as calculus and physics, and make sure you have taken care of those. Any art or studio courses you can take to start building a portfolio would also help.

Thanks for the advice! Another thing that concerns me is whether graduate schools think that having one major and two minors is weaker than having two majors…

Again, I don’t think it will be a big issue for them. They will care about the courses you’ve taken, the quality of the school, grades, GRE’s, and your portfolio (each school in a slightly different order).
