Advice on selling house related to FASFA

Need advice on the timing of selling a house related to filing the FASFA. Will be filling out the FASFA for the first time in January. Really need to sell the house due to a divorce. May make around $75,000 on the house but plan to put it into a new house. Any advice?

File your FAFSA BEFORE you sell the house. Either that, or make sure that you buy that NEW house before you file the FAFSA. If you have the $75,000 when you file the FAFSA, it will be counted in your assets.
