Advice on Starting Up an RSO (new to campus)

Hey all!
This is my first year at UW, and I am living in an apartment, so that being said I haven't met a ton of people yet. I'm interested in starting an undergraduate anti-racist social/political action RSO but I'm not sure where I should start. As far as I can tell, no such group exists on campus for the 2012-2013 school year and I'm hoping to start one up next quarter. Anyone have any suggestions on steps that I should take to let students know that I am trying to start this and possibly probe interest for others to be part of the founding group? Online forums, etc; are especially helpful.

Thanks!

If you’re interested in starting an RSO, you need 4 other students as “officers”. Start off by checking the Class of 20XX Facebook groups and posting to see if anyone is interested. Check out reddit [dot] com/r/udub (make an account, post a ‘self post’ on right side). If you’ve made some friends from classes, see if they can spread the word or if they know anyone who may be interested!

Hope this helps!
