DD asked her teacher to write the recommendations (for 7 schools) during her first week of school back in September. She has followed up with him a couple of times, and he has promised "by the end of the week" But still nothing. She's applying rolling at a couple schools, so if the recommendation was in, she could have had an answer by now. At what point does Mama step in?

People are busy, and there’s no harm in acknowledging it. I think she should follow up with him again, explaining the rolling admissions problem, and asking whether his schedule will allow him to complete the recommendations for those particular schools this week. She could then suggest that if he is too busy, perhaps she should ask someone else, even though she would really prefer a recommendation from him because [whatever prompted her to ask him in the first place].

If he says that he still can write the recommendations but does not do so within one more week, then I think some contact with the guidance department explaining the situation would be in order.

Thanks for the advice. I’m having a tough time letting her handle this one on her own.
