Hey guys, so i go to a huge college, University of South Carolina. And i go for Business Management and its a big thing at this school, but also so big that a lot of people are just accepted into i feel. And the huge down side is that i live 30 minutes away from here, so i don't live on campus or anything, i just drive to school, and go back to home or work. So i really feel like i'm still in high school, but worse. I'm not really meeting people or feeling motivation to do anything. So i'm looking into transferring to a very small private school here in South Carolina, it is about 45 minutes away, but of course cost a lot more. But i know they would give a lot of scholarships (thats not the problem). I know they have a Business Administration program there, but of course its way smaller and not as much established. But i know i would enjoy my self a lot more and get a lot more involved with the school, which is a lot of what i want right now. So.

I'm wondering if going to such a small school to get my undergraduate in a small program will really effect how it looks. Like i have considered to go to Graduate School at USC, but would it look bad to being coming back, or coming from such a small school? And what about employers, are they going to care that i graduated from Newberry College? Or is it really not that big of a deal either way. I just wanna make sure i'm not screwing myself up by going to a smaller school, so that i'd enjoy myself.

My parents don’t really support me in moving on campus, they think its a waste of money, which i kinda of feel the same way, like its just downtown, its nothing new to me.

I’ve never been a commuter, but I knew a few commuters at my last school and there experience was nothing short of miserable. When you are commuting you are not staying in the dorms where you meet a lot of your friends, going out on weekends, being on campus in the weekends, and you generally feel a disconnect from the school because you are only there for the day. 10,000 a year may seem like a lot, but you only do it once. Stop depriving yourself, and move on campus. Seriously its a totally different experience. I think you should live there in the spring and still apply places to transfer, and if you still don’t like it then yes transfer. But by not living on campus you are not giving college 100%.

Thats exactly how i feel, but i also kind of like this other school, ive been there on a few weekends with friends and have gotten to know it, its a lotttt smaller and i think i really like that, but i know they’re business programs are clearly way smaller and not nearly as big, but i feel like i’d really enjoy it.
Does it really effect my degree as much? or is a business degree a business degree?
I honestly just picked USC to kind of take the easy way out, and cheapest.
