Advice on what to do

Hi,

Im having quite a hard time deciding what to do. Im 21 yrs old from sweden and Im just planning to apply to universities in the U.S. My goal is to study political science and international affairs. I studied the I.B in highschool and graduated with a very poor grade. I had 39 predicted but I got 25, the reason for this was that I was diagnosed with cancer the last semester of my school year. This is also why Im off to a late start. Anyway what I am wondering is I have the oppertunity to apply to some halft decent colleges with my grades (only have SAT I though).I have excellent teacher rec, councler recs and EC's but should I wait another year do the ACT in april and then apply to better school in 2009 or should I just go for it? Or are there good schools that accept applications for fall 08 after april? So that I have time to sit my ACT exam? Seems all the deadlines are in the beggining of the year.

p.s. It kinda feels like im too late and ill be some old outcast is it normal for people my age to start their undergrad?

A few good schools that accept later applications are Purdue (March 1st), Rutgers (main campus -New Brunswick) April 15 and Indiana (Bloomington) no closing date. All are good schools and you would get a very good education. Also, I’m sure that you would be able to get excellent internships. If you apply to Rutgers, make sure you apply to their main campus. There will be a lot more going on there for you to get involved in. Also, it is not too far from NYC. Best of luck and hope you are feeling better.
