Well it's about that time. I would like some advice on where I should apply based on my stats. The high school I attend isn't exactly top notch, and my grades and scores could use a lot of work, but I'll take what I can get.

GPA: 3.55
SAT: 1640. Writing: 520. Math: 550. Reading: 570.
I've taken many AP classes such as Government, Literature, Language, World History, U.S History, Environmental Science, and Psychology.

XC: I'm very active in community services.

I'm willing to go to anywhere in the nation, preferably a place with a good study abroad program. Money isn't an issue at the moment. Also, I'm a sucker for sports and especially school spirit and school traditions.

Also, I'm taking the ACT's this Saturday, so any quick tips would be appreciated.

ACT quick tips which worked out best for me:
Science - don’t read anything to do with experiments that have graphs and stuff. only read if its like two different scientists point of view or the like.
Reading - don’t read the passages. tackle most specific questions first, paragraph questions, and then questions as a whole
Math - none, sorry. you just have to be good at math and know how to solve them i guess.
English - none again, sorry. you just have to recognize “bad sounding” writing and correct it.

many people have different methods of taking tests, especially the way I do reading is pretty out of the ordinary, but it worked for me. I suggest you do a practice test before Saturday to see what works for you. GL! bump

Thanks for the responses! Auburn is a school I’ve heavily been looking at. From what I’ve read the school has a nice and friendly atmosphere which is a selling point to me. The University of Alabama is certainly another option to look at. I’m not sure of my major at the moment, but I love History. I’m just hesitant to major in it because I don’t want my options after school to be limited.

Yes, I’d suggest some SAT optional colleges, such as Dickinson College in Carlisle PA. American U. just started a SAT optional program, but I believe it required an early application.
