Advice on who to ask for letters of rec? Is a math/science teacher required?

I’m getting one letter from my 11th grade AP Lang teacher. For the second letter, I’m pretty stuck on who to ask… I heard that some schools require a math/science teacher? Or at least that it’s strongly recommended. I’m going to be majoring in the liberal arts, so I’m not sure if this applies… Anyway here are my options for the second letter of rec:

my APES/AP Chem teacher who I’ve had for two years; he likes me but doesn’t know me that well and so far I’m not that great at AP Chem. I’ve heard his letters are very generic (for internships–maybe he’d try harder for college…)

my Spanish 4/AP Spanish teacher who I’ve also had for two years. She doesn’t know me super well… I’ve always done well in her class, but last year I fell asleep a lot and turned in several homework assignments late. I’ve heard she can be brutally honest to colleges… But this year I’ve been super attentive in class, no sleeping at all haha, and on top of assignments…

my 10th grade AP Euro teacher. I know it’s iffy because it’s 10th grade, but he actually knows me fairly well and likes me a lot, and I did well in his class.

No idea who’s best to ask :frowning:
As another question within the question lol, does anyone know any specific colleges that require a math/science teacher?

Can you talk to your guidance counselor? See if English and History would be okay.

I would think so, since you want to major in a liberal art.

You could talk to the Chem teacher and as him if he could write you a strong letter of recommendation and see what he says.

definitely find teachers who can vouch for you and will write STRONG letters of recommendation. Some schools specifically request letters from a variety of teachers. If you know what you intend to study, then a rec form a teacher who teaches the subject (for ex. Biology teacher for potential bio major) is good.

I think the AP Euro teacher could be a good option. In my opinion, it’s better to find people that actually know you and can speak about you well than to get fill some checklist of subjects
