Advice Please - Can't Meet School's Deadline

One of the colleges my d was accepted to requires their own FA form to be submitted by 2/7. This also includes submitting the 2007 Tax returns. Since I have not even received my W2's yet, there is no way my accountant can have my tax returns ready before 2/7.

I will call the college on Monday, but has anyone else had to deal with a situation like this? A 2/7 deadline for completed 2007 taxes seems unrealistic by any means.

Thanks for any advice.

W-2s are supposed to be out by 1/31 at the latest, check with your employer about the delay too.
The college may take last years tax forms by the 2/7 deadline (and you can send this years as soon as you are done) but you are wise to call.
It is not that unusual. I always did my taxes in April but since the kids have started college, I now do them in Feb. (although next year your kid will likely have a later deadline for finaid forms as a returning student.)

Submit the FAFSA and the Profile (if you need to) using estimates. Then complete your taxes ASAP and amend them with the correct figures.

Thanks for the replies. I received the W2's in today's mail. Will overnight everything to my accountant on Monday and will call the college, & submit their form with 2007 W2's only for now & 2006 tax returns. I'm sure they will be understanding. I've already submitted my CSS & FAFSA & will forward the 2007 taxes as soon as they are done.

Ah...I see now. You've done the FAFSA and Profile but need to get the school's form done. Well...do call them. BUT remember that they have deadlines for a reason.

Check any other colleges to which your daughter applied for any other looming deadlines too.
