Advice please?

Sorry if this isn't the right place to put this!

I'm a senior currently considering taking a year off before college, but I know next to nothing about doing this...

My top colleges I would love to get into are University of Washington and Chapman in CA. I go to a small private school and have a 3.85 GPA. Took my Nov. 4th SATS, and I'm predicting a 500-600 math & 550-650 writing sections.

If I apply this year and get into either one of these schools, is there a way to save my spot for a year?
Also, if I don't get in...would there be something I could do over the next year to make myself look better, then re apply? Or would they look badly on that, especially if they already knew my stats from the year before?

Also can we take the SAT's again during our gap year? Or is that looked at as an unfair advantage?

Anyone who could make this process a little less confusing for me, I would really appreciate it :)

I think most schools allow you to defer admission for a year if you're accepted, you should find out if your schools do this.

ok i will, thanks for replying :)

Don't mean to be annoying, but does anyone else have anymore information?
thank you

colleges usually won't mind a gap year if you do something interesting/usefull during the year.

True, I know quite a few people in my class who actually took a gap year for various reasons whether it be traveling the world, working as an intern, doing research, etc. So as long as what you're planning to do is reasonable then it should be fine.
