Alright so I am currently at Community College in New Jersey. After graduating HS with a good GPA and pretty good SATs I went to the University of Connecticut. For a variety of reasons I F'ed up there and after 3 semesters I failed out =(. Whatever, you've got to work with what comes in life. I moved back home to NJ with my rents and now attend Comm College. After the Spring Semester and Summer Semester i have about a 3.2 GPA with all As in the spring semester. Im taking 16 credits right now and have complete confidence that i will once again get straight As this semester.

I cant wait to get back to a 4 year school. Living at home just gets too boring after a while. Im a good kid with a good head on my shoulders and I'm on the right track now but I dont know what I should do.

My thoughts: I should continue at CC and take 2 Winter CLasses and a full Spring Semester and get my Associates with a high GPA. this will show college admissions departments that I have changed from my struggling ways and am ready to succeed at a new college.

-but i also cant wait to get back to a 4-year school.

Are there any decent 4-year small schools on the east coast that I can get into as is in time for the Spring Semester, or should i stick with my original plan of staying til end of next spring?

(sorry for being so long, any advice is appreciated)

It depends on the caliber of school you want to transfer into. I definitely think that there are schools that you would be able to transfer into, but your application would be much stronger if you were to wait until you received your degree. What schools were you thinking about?

Well if I stay local I'm looking at Rowan University as well as a few others but my list is pretty short as of now. I dont really know what I should be aiming for since I dont know how bad my previous college transcript will hurt me

Well, if you could wave a magic wand - but decided to be realistic when you did that - where would you like to go for a 4-year? That might help us give you an idea of how much lower your chances would be now vs. waiting to complete 2 full years at the cc. It might also help us think of suggested places.

Good luck. I'm sure you will work this out in a good way. Your post shows that you are ready to get it right this time.

Well the problem is I dont really know where to start since I dont know what kind of schools would accept me.
Leaving high school my top choice was UDel, which I got wait listed to, but I doubt I'd get accepted there with my current record. I really like Rowan University but I would also like to look at some nicer-weather schools aka getting out of the North East, but its impossible for me to narrow it down since I dont know the caliber of school I can get into.
I'd like to go to a best possible program as I am completely re-focused on my education, but I am also trying to get into the Business School at whatever school I attend so that might make things harder.

Overall after my experiance at UConn I would like to go to a much smaller college and would prefer anything warmer than New England haha. Based on those 2 preferences plus my situation do you have any recommendations of schools I should check out? I'm basically starting from scratch.

How are the counselors at your cc? Could you set up an appt with one of them to get an idea of where students with your type of cc performance get in? That would give you an idea of what caliber to aim for.
