I personally am not a fan of these types of threads, so I feel pretty hypocritical creating one..but I am in a bind. If any of you could shed some light on your decision process, or have any advice, I would be extremely grateful.

I'm a broadcast journalism major, with a focus on sports media. I also plan on double majoring in marketing.

The University of Florida has been my dream school since like seventh grade..until I came to USC and fell in love. My predicament lies in that I love both of these schools, and I received significant scholarships to both, and I am having an extremely difficult time choosing. I realize this is a great problem to have, but it's a difficult choice, nonetheless.

At UF, I would receive a near full tuition scholarship (roughly 2k short of tuition, and I'd still pay room and board). At USC, I am fortunate enough to have received the Presidential Scholarship plus the 4k University Scholarship, but that still leaves around 25k a year to pay in tuition and room and board.

I guess what I really am asking is if the extra money is worth it? I know USC has a great reputation, and I absolutely fell in love with the school when I was out there..but is it worth turning down a near free (besides room and board) ride at an esteemed journalism state school?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can offer some advice.

Would you have to take out loans to cover the extra 25k? If that’s the case, I’d probably go with UF. However, if you’re able to finance it without loans (ie. parents), then I’d definitely say USC would be worth the extra money.

I had a decision to make. It was UF or USC.

And, I had to convince my parents to let me go to USC.

If you fell in love with USC and it is financially possible to go to USC, I say go there. It’s a better school than UF and is more recognized nationally and internationally. I understand UF has the “Gator Nation” but USC is the “Trojan Family”. Family, or Nation?

:)

Anyway, go where you want to go. I was sick of listening to people telling me where to go so I presented my case on WHY i wanted to go to USC. If you don’t know where you want to go, examine all of the pro’s/con’s and where you think you will have the best college experience and education for the future. Good luck.
