Wondering what the protocol is regarding reaching out and sending an e-mail to a coach or a teacher/ counselor over the next few weeks? I have a few schools that I haven’t communicated with since the interview back in October/ November. Would it be seen negatively if a candidate reaches out to say hi or touch base during their closed door decision time?
Don’t do this unless you have a good reason (like if you’ve just won a MAJOR award…). Othwise you are just wasting their time. Saying hi during this time will not make a difference. Good luck for M10.
Feel free to send in your updates - an award/honor/publication, a new standardized test score, a new set of grades, etc., but don’t expect them to respond.
this is the “quiet period”—between application deadline and decision notification (for some, not all, schools)…when you can reach out to them but they are not supposed to make contact. several really do honor this code
Most of the admissions committee deliberations are happening now. Actually even up until the first week of March. So absolutely if you have any noteworthy updates, don’t hesitate to contact them. Coaches, admissions officers, anyone who might have an impact on your admission.
But don’t overload them with nuisance updates – save it only for meaningful updates. Good luck
