Advice v. Intuition

So, our school has a retired english teacher look over seniors' essays during application season. She's seen hundreds upon hundreds and usually gives decent advice.

I'm not sure if I should go with what she said to me, though.

I showed her two essays-- one that I wrote for commonapp and the one that I wrote for my Brown supplement. The supplement is definitely a better written, more creative piece-- but the commonapp one isn't so bad either. However, she really loves the supplement and wants me to use it for the commonapp for all my schools. The thing is, the supplement is this really intellectualized thing that seems pretty specific to Brown's prompt, and doesn't show "me" or my story or anything directly about me as I thought a common app should-- just my reaction to that specific prompt. She says because there's a topic of choice, I should just send it in. But still... it really doesn't serve the purpose of a THIS IS ME essay :/

What do you think? Should I get some more opinions or just go with her advice?

Usually never a bad idea. College counselors, professionals, and maybe even CCers could shed light on your dilemna.
