<p>I am a sophomore in high school and I really don't know what I should major in when I go to college. I don't really even know what I want my career to be. I always thought doctor, then switched to lawyer, then pharmacist, but now as time is running out, I really want to decide within the next year so I have something clear to work towards and focus on. My favorite subjects (so far) are Biology and English. I loooved Biology when I took it last year, and I did well in it too. I got a 98 average. I also like writing more than reading when it comes to English. </p>
<p>I want a career with a good pay. That is definately very important to me. I also want job-stability. I was wondering if I could have advice on a good major or even guide me on how to pick one. Questions are welcome. Thanks.</p>
<p>Unless you are planning on some sort of business major (which from your post it looks like you aren't) then you don't really have to decide what you want your major to be for quite some time. </p>
<p>That being said, if you are planning on going to a top program, you will have to start focusing on that goal now (by top program I mean any ivy league school and/or schools like UChicago, Northwestern, Stanford or even a program like USC film or NYU film). Sounds like you really liked biology, which is an good major if you want to get into any sort of medicine. </p>
<p>To be honest, you shouldn't be basing your career decisions on salary at this point. Those are the questions to be answered once you are in university. For now focus on what subjects/schools interest you. Read up on some schools you are interested in and see what sort of programs they offer. If you find a school that you like you may find a major there that interests you that you didn't think of before. Conversely, if you find that you like biology and want to major in that you can look for schools with strong biology programs. </p>
<p>Above all though, you should pick a major that interests you most. If you pick one based on how much money you will make out of college, you will be studying a subject you don't like and will probably be miserable.</p>
<p>you could major in biology and do medical research or become a professor.
Right now all you have to do is have ECs that are related to biology or writing, if thats what you like</p>
