Good to very good recs..
haven't written all my essays (ahh!)

Advice? (I don't know if I should start writing the many supplementary essays that Mac demands)

Merry Christmas everyone. :)

Definitely. No question. I mean, it's a toss-up for everyone, but you certainly have a good chance. Go for it!

only thing I'm worried about is the money money money. I can only afford maybe 3500 a year? And the financial aid office told me that if they can't cover my need, they're not offering me admission.

maybe you should look into a need blind for internationals school like williams. except, it sort of makes sense for mac to not offer you admission if you cant afford it- you wouldnt go if you didnt have enough money, right? write the supplementary essays, i think. won't hurt you, shows you really want to go.

btw. i haven't written my essays either. you're not alone!

(im probably going to use something ive already written- whenever i write college essays, i just write something i want to write then somehow find a way for it to fit into the prompts. i just have to tweak it a bit)

well I agree it makes sense, only I'm still waiting for a possible government scholarship which will pay for everything..can you imagine if they reject me based on my hefty need, then I realise that I can actually pay for everything? that will be really sucky.

heh, and I don't think I'm good enough for a school like williams. for some reason I don't really like the school either. :P

oh so far I've written about 6 essays, and 92784329743298743298 drafts. :) I wanted to write a few all-purpose essays but somehow it's not working..

When's the government scholarship notice? i'm sure you'll hear from the scholarship before mac makes a decision. write it in additional information to mac though- that you're waiting on a schoalrship and you'll inform them once you konw.

Even though Macalester is not need-blind for international admission, they still are among the schools most interested in admitting capable international students, and they support their interest with generous financial aid. Based on your posts, I would suggest you apply.

thanks :) I guess I will apply after all..

oh they seem rather quirky and personal on their acknowledgement letter (the one that says they have opened a file for me). heh :)

I found that letter fun to read:) especially, 'the start your engines part'

I got no letter! I feel no love!

Captain of the Dragonboat team...that's the kicker!

haha loads of people don't have any idea what dragonboating is..but at least it sounds nice heh DRAGONboating. Literally, the boat has a dragon head and a dragon tail.

aww wondrlst, just wait awhile it'll come soon. :) Happy New Year everyone!

does anyone know if we're allowed to send the application online and mial the essays? pasting it into the box loses formatting =(
