Advice?

I'm applying to Georgetown RD and I had my interview, and my interviewer was under the impression that I was applying to SFS undecided, when in actuality I am applying to the college as a government major. I was surprised when he said it, but then I thought back to september when I filled out that part 1 and realized that I must have thought SFS was the closest Georgetown had to a poli sci major. (please excuse my ignorance, I had no idea what I was doing 4 months ago...!)

I called Georgetown and the girl who answered told me to submit a letter with part 2 of my application to explain that I'm changing schools. I don't want them to think I'm flakey, because I really DO want to major in Government...I just made a mistake before I had a chance to research the school properly.

So, my question is, what should I write in this letter?? I don't want them to think I'm uninformed, because Georgetown is my first choice !!

ooh ouch...hmm...just say, I originally made a mistake in choosing the type of school I was interested in. I have always intended to major in government at the college ...
etc.

I don't think the letter will hurt you, but be sure to write in your part 2 why gtown essay why you want to go to the college. I want to major in economics and do international law, but I wrote about why the college convincingly, I think...

good luck

Thanks babybird...that's probably what I'll do. That way I can keep the letter short and I won't seem to be making excuses...

Angel,
My D changed her mind from MSB to SFS and wrote a letter explaining her decision to change schools. She was accepted EA, so don't panic and think it will kill your chances. Just write a really good letter.
