So in an earlier post I mentioned that I was accepted to the UW business school as a freshman. However, I got 2 more acceptances in the mail that are somewhat drifting me away from UW. UCSD and BU's management school. I'm not really considering BU anymore because it's just way too far from California and i believe the $ isn't worth it for udnergrad school. So now I"m really more deciding between UCSD and UW.

UCSD doesn't even really have a business program at all.. But i heard from some people that it is better to not do business in undergrad school if I'm going to grad school for MBA in the future. But I've also heard that going to an undergrad business school increases the chance of getting a better job right after undergrad?

I am actually comparing UW and UCI for business, but UCI only has a biz econ class that is offered right now. You can minor in management at UCI, and in 2008 they are implementing a business administration class. As to why grad schools prefer non-biz admin majors, its because grad school would be extremely similar to undergrad. If students come in as econ majors, they will have a large background of knowledge branching from economics as well as less concentrated areas of business study. Even if you were to take biz admin at Washington, you will have no problem whatsoever getting into the grad school you want, provided that you do just as well in college. Good luck with your choice! Im leaving to check out Washington tomorrow.

I live in San Diego and I know alot of people that go there. They aren't having the most positive experience. The people there are, generally of course, intensely focused on school. It has also been dubbed the lamest UC, as far as social atmospheres goes. From what I've heard, no one has any complaints about the social life at UW.

Academically, UCSD is predominantly recognized for its sciences. If you are set on business, then I think you should probably go to UW. And even if you aren't 100% sure about business, atleast at UW you would have the option to participate in a stronger program.

Also, I dont know if this matters to you at all, but the UCSD campus doesn't necessarily have that college feel. The architecture is more modern and industrial. As an aspiring architect, the aesthetic value of the school is something I've considered when chosing a college, but maybe thats just me.

I'd say, unless you are dying to spend your undergrad years in San Diego, go for UW.
