Advice?

Wow! A lot of you did really well on the SSAT! Cangrats!

I was wondreing if you have any advice for studying (for the upper level test). And if you could tell me how you studied, prepared and what your score is? and anything else you can think of that might help me, I take the test on January 12.

Thanks a ton!

I'm taking Jan. 12, as well!! Well. I wung it last time and I got an 84% so that gave me something to build off. I'm aiming for 94th percentile this go-around.
1. SSAT prep books.
2. Flashcards. Tons.

Those are my only 2 strategies so far! Hehe! I should probably get on that :p

moi aussi, last year I got 86. hopfully this time I'll get 90+

I would go over some latin and depending on which math you're in brush up on geometry, etc

Je parle francais aussi, madamemoiselle. Haha, french.

Latin roots and flash cards really help. I received a 94 overall.

Coffee. I didn't study at all. I'm really a horrid test taker. Do not even get me started on how horrible I am at taking tests. I bought a book, studied a few hours here and there, drunk a lot of coffee, and take the test.

Krissy: Erm. I dont think thats an adequate study technique :p

hmmm,i got a couple of practice test, went througha few of their tips, and stuffed my bag that i brought withme with lots of lucky charms (stuffed lizards, thank-younote, harry potter, random lucky sticknote, etc.)

I wore my cousin's socks that she left at my house. I figured they might bring me good luck. Fortunately, they did! Now they are my lucky socks and she is not getting them back. LOL

Ya, i wore a lucky necklace. the night before, i went totally OCD, at like 11:30, i started digging through my closet looking for this certain stuffed animal. The nights before we got our scores,i was spraying my lucky perfume into the air and spinning around in circles exactly eight times. (8 is my lucky number) haha, i'm so weird.

Last night I had a dream that I got back my envelopes and they were all big and I was accepted to every school. When I woke up I was so disappointed it was only a dream.

The chances of me getting into all of my schools is like...1/567893821267834294435543534

how many are you applying to? i am applying to three

hi everyone! i am applying to three!! :)

I'm applying to 6

which ones? peddie, pennington, l'ville for me

L'ville, Miss Porters, St. Georges, Blair, Hotchkiss, and Loomis.

Which one is your favorite? I don't know about me yet, because I have only visited Peddie, which I love.

I've seen Miss Porters and Loomis and I ADORED MPS.
All the girls were SOOO friendly! I loved them! They let me sit in on a class and the dynamic was GREAT! The teacher and students were so sweet and so funny.
The dorms wern't the nicest but I still LOVED it! I could really see myself there. It made Loomis seem obsolete! I didn't even want to apply to Loomis Chaffee after my MPS tour!

ahhh
im taking the test on jan 12th in shanghai
i tried to do the flashcard thing but like i forgot all the words i learned before, after i reached around 500
good luck!

crickett - You have a really great, well rounded list. Which schools have you visited?
