I am a freshman at an undergraduate college, and I really want to pursue a career in medicine. I would like some advice on how to be most successful in my years of college. Are there are things you would go back and do if you were a freshman that you have not done??? When should I start looking into research?? What gpa should I aim for??? What MCAT score should I aim for ( what is a good score for medical schools??)Thank you in advance!

Time management: I'm taking 7 classes this semester and am enrolled in one of the top business programs in the country yet I still have time for my family back home, GF, fraternity, friends, and a part-time job. Stick to a schedule. Go to class. Take great notes/make friends in class so when you miss a day you can easily get notes. Know your profs and have them know you but don't be a suckup. Research over the summer, during the semester, or never b.c it's not necessary for all med schools just some like those that emphasize research over primary care; it's sth most ppl do for the sake of resumes. Volunteer or do something you actually care about. Take the bare minimum of course load that satisfies your MCAT prep and degree reqs and enjoy life in college. Granted, I go to a very large state school and am social in general so my advice is biased that way but you should go out w. friends every now and then (to a party or wherever). Just maintain a 4.0 or close to it. If your fresh yr is bad, don't worry b.c you have time to bring your grades up before graduation. Finish your pre-reqs first and once you start studying for the MCAT come back here for score advice. Good luck.
