advice

Although this is kind of my personal decision, I would just like some advice from anyone who cares. I was accepted to UPenn as a transfer applicant, and it has always been my dream to go there. I started my freshman year at Wake Forest University, and for the most part completely hated it. As a result, my plan was to transfer to the University of Pennsylvania after the year had finished. But, at the end of the first semester, I wanted to leave so bad that I transferred to a small private school in my home state of Minnesota. The dilemma I have about transferring again, is that (1) I will be transferring for a second time, and (2) I am really happy were I am at now. So I would just like to know if you would ruin a good thing for perhaps a better oppurtunity, and better entrance into medical school, or would you let things stay the way they are?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hmmm. In sticky situations like this one, I always enjoy calling on my favorite source for guidance and direction. Of course, I am speaking of the Disney Channel show The Torkelsons. (This is Old School Disney, mind you). In case you never saw it, there was one episode in which Dorothy Jane is deliberating between two prom dates and, to spare a long and tedious description, her mom eventually gives her the advice that essentially you should stick with what you have, even if there's the hope of something better.
I don't know if I entirely agree in this case, but I think that if you are 100% positive you would love and excel at Penn, you should give it a go. If you have wanted to go there forever, you should make sure it's someplace in which you would really be happy (I learned in college admissions just because some place is your dream school doesn't necissarily mean it's the best school for you). But if you're very unsure about transferring to Penn (you're not positive you would love it or that it is the best environment for you), I would take DJ's mom's advice. Practically, you should figure out exactly what you didn't like about Wake and what you do like about your new school, and figure out which characteristics are most readily found at Penn.
Good luck!
